The Social Action Committee of MMT

Our Congregation provides its members with many opportunities for Tikkun Olam.

Our programs benefit community agencies and/or world organizations that address issues such as: homelessness, lack of resources (including food and other necessities), literacy, abuse, needs of abused or homeless animals, elderly and infirmed, the environment, and creating peace in our lives and in our world.

By reaching out to people in need, we not only help to make the world a better place, but also strengthen our Jewish identity and provide an important example of our values for our children.

Christmas Meal for the Homeless

Volunteers are needed as Moses Montefiore Temple members will be cooking the noon Christmas meal on December 25, 2013.  The Salvation Army Safe Harbor Shelter is a temporary emergency shelter for men and women eighteen years of age and older who find themselves homeless.  The temporary emergency shelter provides nights lodging, food, and basic human necessities.
